Happy Holidays!!!

Wow, where to begin....

Playing on Dad!!!

Dad and kids on closing day !!!

On December 13th, we closed on our first home, and started moving in over the weekend!!!!!!! We are relatively settled and loving all the extra space. I am sure we will fill it up in no time, but it's nice to have room to spread out.

Kylin has had an interesting few weeks. She began with the flu bug that the rest of us had, but then hers turned into a bacterial infection called C-dificile. Usually this bug is caused by long term use of antibiotics, but in her case the doctor felt that it was due to all the diarrhea she had with the stomach bug washing away the "good bacteria" in the gut and leaving behind excess amounts of the bad bacteria (C-dificile). To treat this bug, she was prescribed an antibiotic called Flagyl. She hated the taste of it, and would not drink her bottles as a result. On Monday she finished her 10 day cycle of the antibiotic, but still has 1 loose stool everyday. We will continue to watch to make sure that things return to normal. It is not unusual to have to treat this bug with a few rounds of meds. Developmentally, she is blossoming! She crawls all over the place and stands up along furniture. She is still very nervous about standing un-assisted, but she has done it once or twice. She is now saying "mom-mom", ba-ba, va-va, sh-sh so that is progress from a few weeks ago. Our new house has lots of stairs, and so far we haven't purchased the specialty gates for the stairwells, but both kids are doing well with them. Kylin is able to get up 1 of the flights alone, but hasn't mastered getting down yet. Her eating has come a long way lately (knock on wood). She has been drinking as much as 6oz. of her 7 1/2 oz. bottles lately, and is eating lots more solids. She loves graham crackers, yogurt, kerneless popcorn. She is getting much better at tolerating changes in textures which is promising. We still feed her via g-tube, but she is on the right path. Kylin now has 3 teeth, 2 on the bottom and one just poked through on the top. She is such a calm little girl to have around while I am chasing after her brother all day long.

Preston is keeping Mom busy and crazy and slim. All day long, I chase him around to keep him out of trouble. He is into EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING. He has easily mastered the stairs in our house, and he has no problems going up or down. This morning, I was feeding Kylin her bottle and Preston disappeared. He went down the stairs (alone) and found the computer in the basement. He was oh-so quietly into "no-no's" (the computer). I think he loves all the extra space too, he sure has been burning lots of calories exploring everything. His days are spent making everything make noise. He is always banging on things and slamming doors etc. He loves to throw his ball down the stairs and then go after it. ER will soon be our friend!! He is walking more and more all of the time. He now will initiate walking across the room to go from toy to toy and he has excitement all over his face! He still isn't saying much as far as consanants go except for "Dad-dad-dad". Preston now has 4 teeth, 2 on top and two on the bottom.

Climbing the stairs

We put the Christmas tree up right away when we moved in, and both kids play with it at least once a day. The ornaments are continually being moved up higher and higher, but so far the tree is still standing!

Both babies have some yucky colds this week, but so far they don't seems to be wheezing or anything. We need to watch them closely with colds to make sure that it doesn't move to their lungs. They did get their Synagis shots to protect them from RSV, so hopefully it's just a head cold that passes through.

We are excited to be home as a family for Christmas this year! Last year we spent lots of time at the hospital reading Christmas stories to babies and opening their gifts while they slept and rocked with Grandma and Grandpa G and Aunt Kari. This year, Grandma and Grandpa K are coming to visit on the 23rd and then we are going to Uncle Mike and Aunt Teresa's for Christmas Eve. We are then having my family here for Christmas Day brunch.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!
