We are slowly getting settled into our new home. The kids are doing well with the adjustment to sleeping in a new home and they seem to like the added space in comparison to where we were renting.
The tale of our home purchase would take hours to explain, but let's suffice it so say that it was a horrible process where all that could go wrong definitely did! Our lender didn't meet our closing date twice! We were using a government loan and the process is very slow and the lender didn't get the ball rolling as soon as he should have and we had nothing but hassles through the whole process. We ended up moving out of our rental the last weekend of March and lived in an extended stay hotel for 1 week before being able to finally close on the house and move in last Saturday. Our Realtor has been in the business for 20+ years, and she said she had never had a home sale go this ugly. Glad we could give her/ourselves a great learning experience that we hope to never repeat.
Life in the hotel was not any fun as we had 4 of us trying to sleep in 1 room. I didn't realize how restless my kids are in bed until we shared a room with them and heard all of the talking, mumbling and squirming all night. We would put the kids to bed at 8pm and it was lights out for the whole room. Kyle would spend time on the computer and I would read a book or talk on the phone in the hallway or vice versa. It was interesting!
The kids are doing very well! They are doing great at daycare with the exception of a biting epidemic between the three-2 year olds (2 are mine). Hopefully this phase is a short one. My Mom likes to remind me of my biting episodes from the past (I think she loves to see this stuff in my kids for some reason or another).
We are hearing lots of 3-4 word phrases from both kids, and we are finally using verbs rather than just nouns! Preston is hilarious when he tells his sister or us to "sit right here!" and then he is tickled when we listen to his request. Kylin likes to defend her territory from her little brother, and she is constantly saying "no buddy!" Last weekend while we were moving and the kids got left behind by Dad to stay with Mom, we would constantly say "he'll be right back" and so we hear "right back"alot lately. Both kids are memorizing words in books! I read to them and leave out words (especially in the Potty Book) and they will both fill them in for me!
Kylin is showing huge interest in colors, she is constantly guessing colors to hangers, trucks, clothing, toys, covers on cleaning products etc. She has two favorites to say, which are yellow and green. Her eating sure has gotten to be an easy thing! She has 1 or 2 large meals and then usually has 1 meal where she isn't really into it, but she likes her snacks and still gets her Pediasure twice/day. She only has about 4-5 oz./day tubed, so we are getting oh so close to getting rid of the button! I have been worried about her weight a bit, but her length in the past 2 months has changed alot. She is getting a bit taller and more slim (which is really slim).
Now that we are getting settled again, Mom will begin the potty training bit very soon! I have had lots of excuses for not starting before now, but I am running out of reasons and need to bite the bullet and try. Preston likes to sit on the potty still, but we haven't had any successes yet. Kylin is petrified of the toilet and won't even go near it yet. We have lots of work ahead of us!
Our home is 2 stories with a finished basement. It is so nice to put the kids in bed, and we can go downstairs and make all the noise we want without having to worry about waking anyone upstairs! They are doing well with all of the stairs, but when we were moving it sure took alot of Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa's energy to haul stuff up and down all of the steps.
We are impatiently awaiting springs' arrival! We just had our second snow storm of the week yesterday. It is supposed to be nice in the coming week, so we hope the forecasters are right and we get to get outside again.
