When I finally sit down to write an entry, I have to rack my brain to remember all of the cute things the kids have said and done since the last post so that I can remember these things long into the future. I can think of a few recent one's, so here goes.
Kylin is really taking off with her 3-4 word sentences. She jabbers quite a bit, but her favorite saying around our house is "No Buddy (or Mommy or Daddy or Grandpa or Grandma), who ever it is she is disagreeing with at the time. She has a very calm personality, but if she is bothered she is sure to communicate it to the masses. I keep trying to get her to even sit on the potty chair, and she is absolutely defiant. She wants nothing to do with even going near it when we talk about going potty. This girl may be happy to go to kindergarten in diapers! She has done very well with her eating, and we continue to taper what we are tubing and she is drinking more and more on her own! She doesn't seem to have any continued issues with textures of foods as she used to, so that is such a blessing!
Preston is full of conversation, and boy is he a boss! He is always telling Kylin what to do, or is she makes a mess he says "ohhhh maaan Ky Ky, no mess! (a line learned from Mom)" He talks lots about daycare when we drive home and tells me "Brock bite, no biting Brock" (he and Kylin need reminders that Brock is not the only biter at daycare). Missy, one of the childcare providers at our daycare, is expecting a baby at the end of the summer, and she has been telling the kids about the baby lately. When we eat Preston talks about the baby eating, baby kicks, baby sleeping etc. Preston has renamed Missy, "Muppy", as he tends to avoid those s's in words.
We took part in our community's March for Babies this past Saturday, and had a nice time. We had to walk indoors as we had 9" of fresh snow, but it went well. The kids ran and ran and one of the other kids from daycare was there also as she was a 2lb. preemie who is now 18 months old.
After the walk we ate well courtesy of Subway and then we headed home for a short nap before going to the NDSU Bison Spring game. The kids were quite restless during the game, especially Preston. It could be interesting this fall, as we have season tickets for the whole family. Both kids like to say Goooooo Bison when they see the Bison logo. During the game, Thundar (the mascot) came by to visit, and Kylin was of course petrified, but gave him five and Preston was high-fiving him numerous times. After Thundar walked away, Kylin said "bye, bye bear," and then she kept asking where the bear went throughout the game.
We have a quiet weekend ahead of us, but next weekend we will be hosting Aunt Kari's college graduation at our house. Wow it's hard to believe my little sister is done with her undergrad already!
