Croup

After a fun-filled weekend in Minneapolis 2 weeks ago for the Bison/Gopher game, we came home and began this past weekend with illness. Both kids slept for 3 hrs. at daycare on Friday,and by evening Preston began with the barking cough and laryngitis. Kylin has been congested and hoarse sounding, but just began her cough today. After a Sat. afternoon visit to the walk-in clinic, Preston received a dose of Decadron for his cough and swollen vocal cords. Kylin hasn't had the barking cough of croup, but has had a junky cough which causes her to throw up. We haven't had a "meal" here since Thursday and both kids, I am sure, have lost some weight. I just got off of the phone with our pediatrician's office, and we are to take Kylin in for a chest x-ray to see what her lungs look like and she will also get a dose of Decadron. Kylin is still technically scheduled to have her tonsils and adenoids removed this Wednesday, but we will see what the chest x-ray looks like first. Maybe she will get to take part in Halloween festivities after all!
