Summer fun!

The best part of the zoo for P-man is putting sanitizer on his hands (thanks to his germ-phobe mom).

Kylin on her perch

Fun with the sprinklers!

They could watch the river otter for hours

Big smile for the camera!!!

Fun in the sun (or shade)

I don't get much chance to sit down and add to the blog, so I will take today's naptime to try to do a quick update.

Things are going quite well at our house. The kids are continually busy and thus so are Mom and Dad. For the 4th of July we had Grandma and Grandpa K here to visit and they helped us sand/stain our decks. We had beautiful weather, so we've spent most of our days and evenings outside. Preston stayed up until 10:30, so I took him outside to see the fireworks around our house. Kylin was already out for the night, so she missed out on the festivities.

The kids have a new little friend in the neighborhood who loves to play with them. Micah lives just up the street, and every evening lately, she comes looking for the babies to play. She is quite the little mother at 7 years old. Yesterday Kylin and Preston went to Micha's to play in the pool on our 100 degree day. Preston had his head under a couple of times and seemed a little anxious, but didn't cry. Kylin slipped once and went under and she panicked and really drank lots of water and had a hard time catching her breath. After that little accident, she stayed out of the pool and was content with the swing set instead.

Kylin is doing quite well with eating the past 2 weeks, and it is nice to see her beg for food and drink. A few days ago, she had Dad and I "bamboozled" because she managed to shove 3 grapes into her mouth and at them just fine without gagging. She loves to drink juice and water out of her sippy cup, especially if she sees someone else with a drink. She begs for snack quite frequently when she sees Preston with a snack and she has never shown interest in the past. We are tube feeding her 3 bottles of Pediasure/day and she is taking in quite a few calories on her own at the table. This week we will weigh her and see how things come out on the scale. At the end of June, Kylin had another bout of tonsilitis and we are heading to the ENT doctor at the end of July to see if they think we should have her tonsils removed since she has had 3 cases of tonsilitis since January of this year. Maybe if those didn't bother her as much then we would make more progress in the eating department. Developmentally, she has learned to walk backwards and she can now do some side-stepping. She is beginning to try to walk down the steps and up the steps holding my hand rather than crawling up and down. She is learning that we can only smell Mom's flowers outsite, rather than pick at them. She bends down and sniffs them with her arms out to her side for balance and she looks so lady-like and graceful when she does it.

Preston is on a food strike and is really stressing his mom out lately. He only eats cheese and fun fruits for the most part. He still drinks his milk, so I have been adding Carnation instant breakfast to that for added calories, but his dietary intake is so drastically different than it used to be. He is in the process of getting 2 molars and 2 eye teeth, so hopefully after those come in then he will eat better. He continually has his hands in his mouth chewing on his finger and we medicate him daily it seems for discomfort. He will also be weighed this week, so we will see what this hunger strike is doing do our growth this past month. His new words the past couple of weeks are "apple" and "nack" (for snack).

Yummy watermelon!

We have been taking the kids to the zoo quite frequently this summer, and they love to see and touch the animals. Kylin get especially excited when she sees the animals and she points them out to us as we walk along the path.
