Wow, 4 months until we have 2 year olds!!!!!!!
I have been neglecting my updates, so I am sure I have forgotten some of our latest tales, but here goes.....
Kylin is doing very well. She is suddenly blossoming into toddlerhood and is so cute! She cruises all over and explores the world. She is quite independent, if we take her outside she takes off and doesn't look back to see if we are still near her. We went to the park the other day and she took off for the playground and Preston was soon right behind her to check it out. She is mastering the art of tantrums, and is definitely not putting up with all of Preston's crap. She yells at him and takes toys back that he thinks he can steal from her.
Her eating is still a struggle, and we tried to only feed her 24 oz. of Pediasure and see if she would discover the sense of hunger and eat better. Our first trial was a failure as we had teething issues and a 48 hour "bug" in our house. Whenever she is sick, she throws-up most of what we feed her and won't eat any solids. This week is going better, and she is getting 28 oz of Pediasure and she seems to be eating a little more table food. When we had her weighed and measured the other day, she weighed 19 pounds 8 oz. and was 29 1/4". She is in the 3rd percentile and her length was in the 6th percentile for her adjusted age of 17 months. Still little, but slowly growing. In the past month she grew 1 1/4"!
Kylin is saying more and more words and tries to imatate many things we say. She now can say "mom", "dad", "ba" (ball), "ba" (bath), and the very sweet and soft "hi". When we are out and about, she says "hi" to everyone. She is starting to follow directions when we ask her to bring us toys and things. She is a dancing queen and loves to do " pierouettes" and turn round and round to the music. She is able to point to some body parts (head, belly, ears, toes, mouth) when asked. She has trouble yet pointing out her eyes, nose, knees yet but we are working on it.
Preston is still our climbing monkey. He now climbs onto his booster seat and stands at the counter in the kitchen. One day he climbed into his booster and was trying to buckle himself in. He is continuing to sign for some communication, he knows how to sign "all done", "drink", "more", "eat", "hat". Most of his communication lately is yelling and screeching and pointing at what he wants. He has become a good helper by picking up toys with me, putting dishes away, unloading the dryer etc. Very cute to watch him work hard and help Mom. Too bad we make more messes than we clean of course. Preston is very good at following directions and he points out many body parts when asked and he identifies many toys if I ask him where they are he runs and gets them and brings them to me.
Preston is becoming more finicky about foods we give him. He is great at throwing whatever food he doesn't want across the dining room and signs "all done". UGH! Preston weighed 19 pounds 8oz the other day also, and he was 30 1/2 " long. He is in the 1st percentile for his weight and the 14th percentile for length for his adjusted age of 17 months. Skinny boy he is for sure.
Preston has decided lately that he only needs one nap per day. Mom disagrees and says 2 naps are still needed, or an ugly attitude occurs around 5pm and nobody copes very well with that!
Our new babysitter is working out well, she is 18 and will only be with us for the summer, but she has experience with twins and triplets since she was 11 years old and she is great with the kids. Hopefully we will see a little less rain and they can get out and enjoy the summer days while Mom works.
Attached below is the link to some pictures from this past weekend when Grandma and Grandpa G and Aunt Kari were here. Pictures courtesy of Aunt Kari!!!! The first picture of the kids pointing in the sky is cute, they spotted/heard the airplane flying overhead.
