There are so many new little things that Kylin and Preston do everyday that I don't want to forget, so I will capture it here for memory sake.
Yesterday they were playing with my handheld mirror, and Kylin looked in it and then leaned over and gave herself a kiss and a smile! Preston watched her and repeated exactly what she did. In the afternoon, Kylin was standing up by our hutch, which has glass doors and mirrors in the back of the display case, and she was again staring at herself and talking and smiling and then kissing the glass. She is pretty fond of that cute little girl with the round face! Kylin is gradually saying more words everyday, she now says hi, eieio (when I sing Old McDonald), Dad, Mom, and moo, lalalalala.
Preston has the cutest stance (when he is in a patient mood). He stands like a little soldier with his hands folded behind his back and his feet slightly apart. I will try to capture a picture of it, but I guarantee nothing. Preston still only really says Dad, he gave up saying Mom lately and he says "Dyne" for Kylin. He recognizes so many words, but he just won't say them yet. (can you tell Mom is getting a little impatient?). He is beginning to show us signs of a nasty temper when not given his way. He hates shopping, and seems to pitch a fit anytime I try to take him with (kind of like his Dad). The only way I can get a small errand run and spare those around us from having to listen to his attitude, is to feed him snacks to keep him distracted.
Yesterday we went to a friends' house and there was a little girl who is 5 days younger than our kids. Because the kids have been so isolated from other little kids due to their decreased immune systems, this was a fun interaction to watch. This little girl weighed 23 lbs. (Kylin is 19 and Preston just under 19) and she had a great vocabulary. Preston was able to chase her and they gave each other hugs and he shared the soccer ball with her. Kylin smiled and talked to her and touched her face, but when this little girl pointed her finger in Kylin's face that's when Kylin decided she didn't want to play anymore. Very cute! Because I live in my own little world and am so used to my kids' size, I don't think much about how little they are until we are around term sized babies. Even though this little girl was only 4 lbs. bigger, my kids still are so small in comparison. It takes us a long time to put on 1 precious pound of weight at this house.
Yesterday it was 81 degrees here, so we spent a lot of time outside again. Kylin and Preston definitely let me know what they think of the idea of coming inside. They love the outdoors!
