Kylin still in the hospital and Preston at home
January 2007
Snoozing in the car (Kylin just woke up when we stopped)
Brushing teeth
Preston holding his own bottle and Kylin doing puzzles
Yesterday our EI therapist was here, and she was impressed with Kylin's eating. Kylin ate some of a grilled cheese sandwhich, peach cobbler (baby fruit) and peas. She mushes the peas alot, but does eat some of them. Kylin showed off her clapping skills to "If you're happy and you know it.." and she said Mom quite a few times. She is making progress at standing with less assistance. She now lets go of the couch with on hand and she will walk with us across the room holding onto one hand. She used to be very nervous about letting go, but she's figuring it out.
The EI noticed Preston's new babbling that he is doing. He said moo this morning when we were talking about the cow on one of his toys. He said NaNa, but rather than just meaning banana, he says it when we are putting him in his chair to eat. He is doing lots of jabbering that contains lots of consanants which is a step in the right direction as far is speech is concerned. He is walking all over now, and he loves to carry stuff with him. We can always tell when he takes off walking across the room (if we are elsewhere), because he has this nervous, anxious noise he makes.
We have been working with puzzles since Christmas, and both kids know how to take the pieces out, and they know they go back in, but just haven't figured out where they go yet. Preston has now decided that when Mom brushes her teeth, he should too. He whines and watches me and then I give them their toothbrushes and they are both busy for a long time. They scream at me when I say all done and put them away until the next time.
Today Mom is going to re-visit the world of "little babies", by helping to plan Aunt Teresa's baby shower and helping her register for baby stuff. Their baby is due in April. Should be fun!
