Spring/summer makes life with 2 toddlers so much more enjoyable. We go outside and burn some energy and explore the world and take in the fresh air. Kylin hears the word "outside" and she begins whining and goes to the door and Preston goes to the closets with jackets and tries to get the door open. After the chore of getting them both in shoes and jackets we head out to enjoy the outdoors!
On Sunday evening, we were visiting with the neighbors and Preston was climbing up and down their rock landscape steps with 2 adults closely keeping an eye on him and he still managed to get hurt. He lost his footing and slipped and bonked his forehead on the pebble rock and ended up with 2 perfect little cuts and a little bit of blood to show for it. He only cried a few seconds and grabbed at his head, and then he was off to throw more rocks and continue playing. He is so busy and rarely sits to relax. Preston is "talking" more and more in his own language, so we continue to try to get him to identify objects that he knows, hoping that soon he will talk rather than just point and grunt. Today we are headed for his second hair cut to rid him of his impending mullet.

Look at my owie
Kylin is doing very well and is experiencing lots of new things now that she can walk. She has learned to turn around in circles and she has learned to bend over, pick something up and continue on walking. She is learning new motor skills all of the time! We are in the process of working with a dietician to get Kylin started on night time pump feedings, so that Kylin can eat during the day without being force-fed. Hopefully this change in strategy will help her to take in more on her own. We are keeping a log of food intake this week, and boy is it hard to guess when you are talking about 1/4-1/2 of a grape, 1/8 of a piece of toast etc. She generally touches every piece of food on her tray, but usually its mushed up and on her chin, her bib or on the floor, so it is hard to guess how much got into her mouth.
Outside and loving it!!!
Yesterday Kylin and Preston's cousin Logan paid us a visit. He cried a couple of times, and one of the times Preston became very concerned and he actually began crying as well, until we got Logan settled down. It is nice to see that my aggressive boy has an empathetic side. Kylin is very curious about the baby, but she was more concerned with his pacifier (the same one Kylin uses). She got very upset and threw a little tantrum when we wouldn't let her take the pacifier out of his mouth. I had to go find hers' and give it to her, then she was fine.
Learning to use utensils (isn't going so well, hands are more efficient)
This weekend we are headed to Grandma and Grandpa K's house to visit, so hopefully the kids do as well as they did last time in the car and we get there without too much yelling and screaming.

Your kids are so darn cute--boo-boos and all!
I hope the new food schedule helps Kylin to learn to be hungry and facilitates her eating more. Maybe all the constant motion will help with that too, now that she is so active and walking.
And isn't it the sweetest thing in the world when one of your little ones shows such empathy at such a young age? It's so cute that Preston got upset for Logan!
