We are all staying healthy lately, which is so nice. We are finally halfway through the dreaded RSV season, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Last week the kids received their monthly injection of Synagis to prevent RSV, and boy does Kylin have a good memory. As soon as we wheeled our 18 wheel stroller into the exam room, she screamed and she didn't stop until we left. She was frantic the entire time we were at the clinic.
Kylin ran temps and acted "sick" twice this month, but thankfully it was from teeth rather than any bugs. As soon as her tooth broke through the temps stopped and she returned to herself within a day or so. She now has 4 teeth (2 upper and 2 lower). Kylin is getting to be so much fun the past 2 weeks. She does so much giggling and crawls up and looks for attention finally. Usually her brother steals the stage, and she is so quiet in the background. She has learned that if she screams or yells, someone will take note. Her latest favorite thing to do is walk! She has spent the past 2 days wanting to be upright. Her balance still isn't real good, but she wants to go. She grabs my fingers and we pace the room over and over again. She gets so excited and starts giggling and then she bobbles to the left or the right etc. It is so fun to see her headed in the right direction towards walking. She is a little less nervous when standing now and she can gracefully do the perfect sqwat to the floor. All of these will help her to be upright and mobile soon! We still aren't hearing much for words from Kylin yet, she says da,da,da and ma,ma,ma but doesn't always associate this with mom and dad. She says lots of other consantants so we continue to work at it. I have been working on sighing with both kids so that maybe we can communicate a little better and avoid a little of the screaming.
Upright and pushing the car without being afraid!
Kylin has been having difficulties gaining weight since she was sick with C-difficile in December. Last week she weighed 16 lbs. 12 oz., so hopefully by now she is around the 17 pound mark. She is finally getting a little pudge back in her cheeks since she lost weight. This month our plan was to start her on Pediasure, but she revolted and we are back on Neosure mixing it at 24 cal/oz rather than 22cal/oz. Nearly everytime I fed her (by bottle) or tubed the Pediasure, she would throw it back up. Let me tell you, chocolate Pediasure stains don't come out of anything very easily. She continues to eat bits of food at the table, which is encouraging. On Tuesday night she ate and ate and ate, so I decreased the amount of her bedtime bottle since she ate so well. Hopefully that trend will continue and our "tubing" process will just be to supplement her, rather than to "feed" her all of the time.
Cool Chica!! Messy Chica!!!
Preston is doing well and driving me nearly to insanity daily! He is so busy and there is not a minute that goes by that he is into something that is off limits. Our end tables are nearly naked of any decor, because I gave up the fight on that front. He continues to be fascinated by the toilet. He sticks all sorts of things in there and then goes fishing to get them out. So much for being germ obsessed! He is walking everywhere and rarely crawls anymore. He has figured out how to carry big objects lately and he gets so excited. Yesterday he started carrying a big beach ball around the house and got mad when he kept falling and losing his balance. He is doing lots of screaming to get his way...toddlerhood has arrived!!!! He is a champion eater and he is doing well with the sippy cup, so our next task will be to wean from the bottle. Right now he only drinks out of the bottle in the early morning and at bedtime. I will miss the snuggle time when he drinks his bottle. It is the only time of the day that he truly sits still and relaxes (except when sleeping).
Do you have anymore pudding Mom?
Standing on anything to have a longer reach!
This weekend is Dad's birthday and Aunt Jana is coming to visit and watch the kids so we can get out for awhile!!
